A giant mixed-use building has just been proposed for Stephen Avenue Calgary

Another day, another proposal that could bring big changes to our downtown – specifically to the Calgary hotspot, Stephen Avenue.

Although this has yet to be approved, many steps have already been taken to develop a mixed-use building between 7th and 8th Avenue on Center Street and 1st – the current site of several historic buildings.

Submitted by Triovest, a local commercial real estate advisory and investment firm, the building they call the Stephen Avenue neighborhood would include retail stores, offices, a hotel, rentals, condominium units and underground parking when completed.

With three different towers, one of which would be the tallest in Western Canada at 66 stories, this building, which would be designed by Gibbs Gage Architechs, could see our urban skyline change dramatically.

This, of course, is a developing story, so don’t hold your breath for its completion.

As always, we’ll keep you posted as more information comes to light, but until then, we want to hear from you, Calgary. Are you interested in seeing more new construction in the area? Why or why not?
