Botrista, a startup that makes a beverage mixer robot, has raised $ 10 million to expand its technology nationwide.

The Series A funding round was led by Pure Stone Capital and La Kaffa International, with contributions from the Sony Innovation Fund and catering equipment giant Middleby.

Botrista’s DrinkBot automates the work of making craft drinks such as infused teas, flavored lemonades and iced coffees. An employee starts the process with the push of a button on the machine’s touchscreen, and the drink is dispensed in less than 20 seconds.

The idea is to allow restaurants to offer premium drinks without a full bar or the manpower required to run these items, while generating additional income.

“As craft drinks are all the rage, it has become increasingly difficult for catering companies to meet demand due to labor shortages and low staff retention,” said Botrista CEO Sean Hsu in a statement. “With nationwide expansion plans, these businesses will have the opportunity to generate new revenue with the DrinkBot. “

The bot also comes with software called CloudBar which tracks sales and inventory data.

Botrista said her deployments and year-over-year revenue have increased 10-fold, and the new funding will help her accelerate adoption even further.

Current customers include Bonchon, The Halal Guys and the Filipino bakery concept Goldilocks.

The pandemic heated up the market for kitchen automation like Botrista and Flippy from Miso Robotics, and the ensuing job crisis created another use case for robots. Last month, pizza maker maker Picnic raised $ 16.3 million, crediting restaurant hiring problems with a “spike in interest.” But the industry could still be a long way from widespread automation, as cost, training and implementation remain hurdles.
