Four-storey mixed-use building planned on French Street

NEW BRUNSWICK – A four-storey mixed-use building with 10 residential units is proposed on French Street.

The city’s zoning adjustment board is expected to hear an application from Chelsea Builders LLC to construct the building with 900 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor and the 10 residential units above at 236 French Street.

The virtual meeting is scheduled for November 22 at 7 p.m. via WebEx and by phone.

The developer is seeking approval of the preliminary and final site plan as well as deviations for building height, front and side yard setbacks and parking. A maximum building height of 40 feet is allowed, but 44.8 feet are proposed and no front yard or side yard setbacks are proposed. Although 23 off-street parking spaces are required, 11 spaces are available, depending on demand.
