New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….
The original story (published January 14, 2022) follows:
Since its launch in October, buyers of the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro series of smartphones have encountered some issues that need to be addressed in order to get the best experience.
Several of the reported bugs/issues (1, 2, 3, 4) have been fixed or mitigated through software updates. But, there are some that persist to this day (1, 2, 3, 4).
According to reports, some Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users have experienced an uncomfortable crackle/pop that may appear when opening games or apps, recording videos or making phone calls.

When opening apps or games
One of the reported use cases where the issue can occur is when opening games or apps. When it occurs, it generates a short but intense crackling/clicking sound, even if the phone is muted.
Pixel 6 Pro – loud crackling/clapping sound when launching certain apps/games
When launching certain apps or games, such as Genshin Impact or AetherSX2, my Pixel 6 Pro sometimes makes a brief and extremely loud crackling/clicking sound even when muted. Unfortunately, I can’t reproduce this consistently, but it seems more likely to happen the longer my phone is available. I also sent comments on this.
Apparently it’s not something that happens every time a game or app is opened. However, something like this happens once in a while can be quite annoying for the users.
When recording voice or video
Another situation where the bug can occur is when recording video or audio. In these cases, in addition to the crackling noise, there is also an annoying “rain-like” background noise.
Pixel 6 – Audible Crackling/Static Noise in Filmed Videos
I recently noticed that whenever I shoot a video, when I watch it, there is a crackle/static noise every time. It almost looks like it’s raining. This is more noticeable when shooting in quiet environments. Noise is noticeably louder in videos shot at 1.0x as opposed to 0.7x.
Unlike the previous case, the problem seems to be very common when recording audio or video. So it can be quite frustrating for the users.
During phone calls
Finally, some users are reporting similar issues while making calls. In these cases, there is a “loud clicking noise”. At least that seems to happen occasionally.
Loud clicking noise from Pixel 6 Pro during phone calls – rare, but has happened several times. Someone else?
Hey guys, I’ve been using my Pixel 6 Pro for a few weeks now and noticed an issue where my phone sometimes clicks loudly during a phone call.
Has anyone else noticed this or has anyone any idea what it could be?
As of now, there doesn’t appear to be any official acknowledgment from Google regarding the issue. If there are any new updates related to crackling/pop sound on the Pixel 6, we will update this article.
Finally, you can also consult the bug/problem tracker dedicated to Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
