Halle Berry responded to another user mixing her up with Halle Bailey from The Little Mermaid

It’s understandable that people get iconic actress Halle Berry and singer-turned-Disney Princess Halle Bailey because of their similar names. Although regarding who would play Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake of The little Mermaid confusion makes less sense. And Halle Berry responded, once again, to this confusion of names.

It’s happened before, since the two actresses share a first name and the same initial, it’s understandable that people are confused. Halle Berry once answered it with class saying she’s thrilled to see Halle Bailey play the part. This time however, the confusion went a little further, shortly after the first trailer for The little Mermaid abandoned, when a user on Twitter posted:

Halle Berry is nearly 60 years old as a 16-year-old girl. That’s what happens when you disturb a fandom.

Whose Barry replied with a photo of a blank-eyed woman, who honestly looks like she’s done with the situation, I think. You can check that out for yourself below, thanks to the actress’ personal social media.

Obviously, The little Mermaid wasn’t going to make a 56-year-old actress into a teenage princess. It makes much more sense that they cast 22-year-old Halle Bailey as the young mermaid.

Although Berry isn’t Bailey, both actresses have been incredibly successful and have taken on iconic roles. Berry played Storm in x-men and Catwoman in the film of the same name, leaving her mark on the superhero genre. Meanwhile, Bailey makes a splash on stage as Ariel.

This role for Bailey, and for movies in general, is a big deal. Bailey made history when Disney cast her as the first black actress to take on a live-action princess role. She talked about how “grateful” she is to “reinvent” Ariel. The actress said she got emotional seeing herself on screen with the mermaid tail for the first time.

While there was racist reaction since his castingBailey has opened up about the support she’s received from her family, and since the trailer’s release, it’s clear her performance is having a positive impact. Parents filmed their black daughters watching Bailey sing “Part of Your World” for the first time. Seeing these children react with such joy shows how important it is to see representation on screen, and Bailey can do that in The little Mermaid.

Berry also made history in the film industry, like Bailey. She was the first black actress to win a Best Actress Oscar for the film Monster Ball. Besides that, Berry is also a household name, she has appeared in superhero movies as well as the John Wick and Kingsman franchisees.

Both women are powerhouses and have some super exciting projects coming up. Berry has two 2022 movie releases with moon fall earlier this year and The mothershipwhich is due out later this year. The little Mermaid is planned in Disney’s upcoming releases for 2023, and Bailey will also appear in the film adaptation of the award-winning musical The purple color Next year. So be on the lookout for projects from the two Halles, but don’t confuse them because they are two very different people.
