Hamlinz reveals how Mixer’s multi-million dollar move failed during Twitch peak

NRG content creator Darryle ‘Hamlinz’ Hamlin revealed how Microsoft’s failing streaming platform Mixer made him a tempting offer to quit Twitch as they picked up streamers.

Hamlinz, alongside his friend and fellow content creator Daequan, left many fans scratching their heads as they disappeared from the internet for a while in 2020. The pair have amassed millions of fans through their charisma and their streaming humor, combined with some very impressive Fortnite gameplay. .

They have since returned to Twitch as part of NRG, once again entertaining viewers with their natural affinity for comedy and for each other.

Hamlinz, however, revealed that he could have joined Mixer in 2019, when the platform launched its most publicized challenge against Twitch’s dominance.

Microsoft officially closed Mixer on June 22, 2020.

Fans will of course remember the Mixer poaching of Shroud and Ninja. Both men were paid millions for their transfer, but then returned to Twitch after Mixer collapsed in the summer of 2020.

During a live broadcast on October 23, Hamlinz revealed that he could have followed suit, but he let the opportunity pass by not broadcasting as regularly.

“Do you all want to know something crazy?” Mixer offered me $ 7-10 million to go there, ”he said. “That was back when I felt like I was reaching a peak – 40,000 viewers on each broadcast. I’m not even shitting you brother… And then I started to stream less, I was in conversation with them. We were talking and talking and then they hit me with “I don’t know Hamz, you don’t listen enough.” I think we’ll take it over. It’s a true story.

Mixer’s challenge on Twitch was short-lived, however, as the service merged with Facebook Gaming in the summer of 2020, and they were still hooked for the millions they would have paid Shroud and Ninja.

Hamlinz probably won’t complain too much about the missed opportunity, especially given the Mixer meltdown. It underscores how popular the 26-year-old is, as do the thousands of viewers he continues to command.
