Khris Middleton’s heroism makes Brook Lopez sound like a record broken

Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton played the hero against the Miami Heat on Saturday, hitting a solid winning jumper with 0.5 seconds left in overtime. The Bucks earned a 109-107 victory in Game 1 of the first round series thanks to the bucket.

Bucks center Brook Lopez is no stranger to seeing Middleton hitting clutch shots. Lopez has been asked about Middleton’s clutch play several times over the years. The big man could only smile as he referred to these previous situations.

Via The Athletic’s Bucks defeated journalist Eric Nehm:

“You could look up a ton of other times I’ve answered this question for you, and they’d all be valid,” Lopez said. “He’s still level. Obviously, the first game of the playoffs, everyone is amplified. Great game. It could have been a preseason game for him. I think he would have been the same at the time, shooting the ball and everything.

Middleton is always cool and collected on the court, and her sweater is so slick. It looked like there was no pressure at all as he buried the dagger on Duncan Robinson to give the Bucks the win.

The Bucks star has hit a number of big playoff hits over the course of his career, and it was just the last. It was also hugely important, as a failure would likely have meant another overtime in an all-out game that really could have gone either way.

It was especially important to achieve this victory in Game 1 after being smoked by the Heat in last year’s playoffs. Losing the opener at home would have brought back a bad sense of déjà vu, but now the Bucks have the series advantage and can take control with a win in Game 2 on Monday. And hopefully Milwaukee will shoot better than 5 of 31 at 3 points.
