An Australian who decided to try Macca’s coffee viral trick called it “the best hack in life.”

Brad Canning, from Melbourne, saw video from the UK showing a woman ordering a vanilla drink and espresso at a McDonald’s.

The woman, who has the username @melika_zaidi, then added the coffee to her milkshake and mixed it up.

Melika’s TikTok video has been well received, garnering over 2.6 million views since it was shared last week.

Canning has decided to give the Downunder trend a boost – but his 386,000 followers have noticed a problem with drink piracy.

“To say I ran to my car is an understatement; I don’t even have shoes. I’m trying this this second,” he began in his video which was “stitched” with Melika’s.

After ordering behind the wheel, he took both items and stopped to put the hack to the test.

“OK, I have my drink and my little espresso, I probably should have had a double drink, but here we go. Let’s try.”

After pouring the espresso into the shake, he then gives it a “good stir” with the standard McDonald’s paper straw and takes a sip.

“Alright, uh ha,” he said, before giving his final thoughts. “Probably the best hack in life ever, it’s so good. Plus, one hit was enough.”

Although it has been viewed over 125,000 times since it was posted to the social media platform on Monday, many have argued that the hack was unnecessary.

“There’s already a coffee shake on the menu,” one person noted.

“Pretty sure they’ve been having coffee drinks at Macca’s for at least a year,” said another.

But others said the hack was different from the coffee shake.

“It’s a vanilla shake plus coffee, so it would taste different from a coffee shake,” one said.

“They use syrup for the shake… nothing compares to espresso,” said another.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s Australia told news.com.au that real coffee was used in his shakes – but others pointed out that it looked like Canning had mixed his with a chocolate milkshake, this that would make it a mocha shake, something not on the Macca menu.

However, people were just excited by the inspiration for the drink, telling their friends that they should try it the next time they are at a restaurant.
