Neil Young Praises Amazon Music Days After Pulling Rival Spotify’s Catalog

Neil Young has praised Amazon Music and offered his fans four months free on the streaming platform just days after pulling all his music from rival Spotify.

The Grammy-winning musician said Amazon was “leading the pack” when it came to producing high-quality audio and encouraged fans to use the service to access its entire catalog.

Young reportedly requested that his content be removed from Spotify due to his hosting of the Joe Rogan podcast, which is known for airing skeptical opinions about vaccines.

The streaming giant said it “regrets” Young’s decision and hopes to see him again soon.

But a Twitter post from the Neil Young Archive said on Friday: “Anyone looking for my music can easily head over to AMAZON MUSIC…all new listeners will get four months free.

He added: “Amazon has been leading the pack in bringing Hi-Res Audio to the masses, and it’s a great place to enjoy my entire catalog in the highest quality available.

“Love the earth, be well. Neil.

Young reportedly requested that his content be removed from Spotify due to his hosting of the Joe Rogan podcast (Spotify/PA)

Following concerns reported by Young, Spotify said it was aiming to balance “both listener safety and creator freedom” and had removed more than 20,000 Covid-related podcast episodes since the pandemic began.

He acquired The Joe Rogan Experience podcast in 2020, for over $100m (£77m).

Stand-up comedian Rogan, 54, has previously sparked controversy for suggesting that young and healthy people should not get vaccinated.
