VIDEO: Take a look at the Model Suites Y Lofts in downtown Peterborough

The luxury Y Lofts apartments will be ready for occupancy from September 1st.

Less than a month before occupancy of the luxury Y Lofts apartments in downtown Peterborough began, VIPs got a glimpse of several of the units available for rent starting September 1.

Y Lofts, located in the old YMCA building at the corner of George and Murray Streets, offers secure high-tech apartments living in the heart of the city with units ranging from 450 square feet from studios to two-story, three-bedroom to bedroom, three-bath units that are closer to 2,100 square feet. Likewise, living in the rejuvenated historic building will cost tenants between $ 1,650 and $ 2,550 per month, including heat and water. Fiber optic internet, electricity and parking fees, with options for electric vehicles, are extra.

“Almost all of the units are slightly different,” says rental agent Michelle Charlebois, who was leading tours of several model suites on Aug. 5.

“It seems to fill a niche,” says Charlebois.

“The feedback we’re getting is that there aren’t any high-end units like this available. “

Of the 139 units developed and owned by Toronto-based Atria so far, 55 have been leased, according to Charlebois, who adds that there are around 15 daily rental requests.

So far, she says inquiries are mostly coming from young professionals, Trent students and seniors.

“We have a lot of people (who are over 50) selling their homes in this crazy market,” she says.

“It gives them a bit more luxury so they don’t feel like they’re moving into an apartment right away.”

In addition to modern units, featuring large windows, high ceilings, energy efficient appliances including washer and dryer and smart Atria Connected Suite technology, there will be many other amenities in the building for tenants. A rooftop lounge featuring indoor and outdoor spaces with multiple barbecue stations will be ready for use by spring, says Charlebois, while the gymnasium and massage room will be ready by the end of the year. .

On the top floor is also a party room for entertaining larger groups, with a kitchenette, dining area, living room, two-sided fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows for breathtaking views of the city.

Amenities on the ground floor will include a business center with a meeting room, bicycle lockers and the lobby.

Charlebois notes that Y Lofts will have on-site security as well as cameras, key cards and entry codes.

“When you bring a building like this to the area, it enhances the area,” she says, adding that Atria continues to look for future development opportunities in Peterborough.

Y Lofts tours are currently available by appointment only, Tuesday through Saturday. To book a tour or for more information, visit
